GTA Accountant

GTA accountant for private companies

Accounting, tax, and business valuation for owner-managed businesses across the Greater Toronto Area, from one midtown Toronto office.

One office, the whole GTA

Amir Rosenthal practises from 110 Eglinton Ave W, Suite 201, Toronto, ON M4R 1A3, at Yonge–Eglinton. The location sits close to the middle of the city, on Line 1 and near the Eglinton Crosstown, which makes it a practical meeting point for clients coming from the north, east, and west of the GTA.

GTA clients do not need to visit often. Year-end work, tax returns, and planning meetings are handled by phone or video, with documents exchanged electronically. The office is there when an in-person meeting is useful, such as signing, a complex planning session, or a first meeting.

Who the practice works with

The practice works with incorporated, owner-managed businesses: companies large enough to need real accounting and tax advice, where the owner wants to deal directly with the professional doing the work. Examples include:

  • Family companies and their holding companies
  • Professionals with a corporation, including healthcare practices
  • Real estate, mortgage, and development companies
  • Distribution, manufacturing, retail, and technology businesses

What a GTA business can get here

Why one advisor helps

Having accounting, tax, and valuation in the same practice matters when a business reaches a turning point. An estate freeze, a buyout of a partner, or the sale of the company each needs the tax structure and the value to be worked out together. A CPA who is also a Chartered Business Valuator can do both, with fewer handoffs and less repeated explanation.

How an engagement usually works

A new file starts with a short, complimentary conversation about what the business does, what was filed last year, and what is coming up. If the work is a fit, the next step is a written engagement that sets out the scope, the timing, and the fee basis. Prior-year financial statements and tax returns are then reviewed so that nothing carried forward, such as loss balances, elections, or loans between the owners and the company, is missed.

After that, the work follows the company's year. There is a year-end meeting to settle the financial statements and the owners' pay, the corporate and personal returns are filed, and planning questions are raised when they come up rather than waiting for the next filing deadline.

Working across the region

A business in Vaughan, Markham, or Mississauga deals with the same federal and Ontario tax rules as one in midtown Toronto, so distance seldom changes the work. What it does change is the meeting logistics, which is why phone, video, and electronic document exchange are the default and office visits are optional.
